I've been busy busy busy these past few weeks! I've been preparing and trying to make some new stuff for Sakura-Con and Emerald City Comicon coming up very soon. I tend to get restless during long stretches between cons/shows so I'm very excited for those to happen! And now, I'm going to throw some new art at you. "Sleeping Beauty" Photoshop CS5 Let me tell you, those flowers took forever. I tend to gravitate towards the too-many-petals varieties. But I think it was quite worth it in the end. This will be available as a print in my shop very soon. This next one is a little bit different - in which I experiment with gilding! It was a messy process but I had a lot of fun with it! "Girl with Asian Giant Hornet" ink and imitation gold flake on handmade paper So, I'm pretty sure I saw one of these things during my trip to Bali last year. It was the size of my thumb, and actively building a nest in our bathroom, which was a bit stressful. In fact, that was 1 of 2 stressful bee encounters during that trip (the other one involved a nest of regular bees getting into our room and us waking up one morning to find bees everywhere. Thankfully we had a mosquito net over the bed). Also, during the entire trip I was quite worried about getting Dengue fever, being the mosquito magnet that I am. Needless to say, bugs were quite a hot topic during that trip, which may explain why they're popping up in my art a lot recently. (For those wondering, I did not get a single bee sting or mosquito bite. Yay :) ) Also, as a bonus, here's something that I finished today: "Smile" Acrylic, graphite and ink on watercolor paper Um...I don't have a fun explanation/story for the ants. Just ants.
These pieces will be coming with me to my upcoming cons, plus many more, so be sure to stop by if you're attending! Til next time~ Megan
