Hello everyone, and hope you are having a Merry Christmas! I'm happy to announce that my art submission was accepted for the 2015 Monsters and Dames charity art book, run annually by Emerald City Comic Con. I'm super excited! As you've guessed already, the prompt for the book is about monsters and dames. It's very open-ended, which leaves a lot of room for imagination. For my submission, I decided to skip the whole damsel-in-distress routine :)
The original concept for this piece was based off of Nordic mythology (which stemmed from both my recent trip to Scandinavia earlier this year, and me also simultaneously discovering the tv show Vikings. Go figure.). The monster that our heroine faces was inspired by the wolf Fenrir, from Viking mythology. This finished piece was a bit of a deviation from my initial ideas, but I'm still really happy with the outcome. As for the art book itself, I -believe- that it will only be sold at Emerald City Comic Con 2015 (which, by the way, passes will likely sell out prior to the con, so if you're planning on going, grab your tickets now!). It's a limited edition book and proceeds go to Seattle Children's Hospital, so it's for a great cause! I will of course be in the artist alley during the con, so if you stop by my table, I'll be armed with a sharpie ready to sign my page for you :) More details to come as we get closer to the con. I'm so excited!!
